We work internationally, supporting the lobbying and advocacy work at the United Nations on behalf of women and girls as well as fundraising for specific projects which support women and girls. The organisation is a global volunteer movement working together to transform the lives of women and girls with nearly 80,000 Members in 124 countries.
Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) has 8000 Members in 350 Clubs in 28 countries including Great Britain, Ireland and countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Malta, who work at a local, national and international level to Educate, Empower and Enable opportunities for women and girls.
S. I. Kingston Upon Thames and District was chartered in 1944 and our members, who come from diverse business and professional backgrounds, have given many years of service to a variety of projects both local and international.
We work regionally in cooperation with 12 other Soroptimist clubs across Southern England and nationally across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Our work within a United Kingdom framework is on behalf of women and girls. of Kingston Upon Thames, Richmond, Hounslow, Merton, Wandsworth and surrounding areas, who are interested in promoting and improving the lives of women and girls. We are women with a social conscience who want to make a difference by giving service, sharing friendship and having fun
